I just found this review of the Tri-Ti. It was done by the son of the father & son team over at Titanium Goat. Normally, I would take a manufacturer's review with a pound of salt, but I have purchased equipment from them in the past and communicated with them about different pieces of gear, and I have found them to have a lot of integrity.
After reading the review, I tested my Thermojet stove to see how the alcohol capabilities of the Tri-Ti compared to another top of the line alcohol stove. Conditions were: Air temp – 78 degrees,
water temp, 45 degrees,
altitude, 550 feet above sea level.
No wind.
It took 6.5 minutes and a little more then a liquid oz. of SLX denatured alcohol to boil a pint of water. Based on those numbers, I would say the Tri-Ti did very well, expecially since it used about 2/3 of a Tbl. less alcohol to achieve a boil. I've used the Thermojet at 11,000, in sub freezing conditions, but don't recall how long it took to reach a boil or exactly how much fuel it used.
Can anyone that owns a Bush Buddy state their real-world, high altitude boil times with less then perfectly dry wood?
