I was told that replacement hip belts used to be free… sounds to good to be true? Anyone know if granite gear does this?

Don't know, but if they don't and you need a large, I have one I'd like to get rid of.
You pay the shipping assuming the belt you are exchanging is new. If so, then yes.
Granite Gear will exchange a new/unused belt for another of a different size…you pay shipping for the old belt back to GG. I did this when my new Blaze 60 was only available from the retailer with a belt that was smaller than I needed.
