Me and my partner are planning a trip in Wrangell-St Elias National Park up in Alaska next week and so far beta has been very hard to come by, so I thought I would reach out to BPL to see if anybody could help.
We are hoping to go out for 5 days and 4 nights. We can't afford a fly-in trip so we need to access something off Nabesna or Mcarthy roads. The few people and books we've consulted have pointed us to the Trail-Lost Creek Loop off of Nabesna road. It seems like a great trip, we're just worried we'd blow through it in 2 or 3 days. Does anybody know about that area and the potential to explore off-trail north of the pass (Suslota Creek area)? How accessible are the ridges in that area? Anything else in the area that would make a great 5 day trip that we don't know about? We have a decent amount of Alaska hiking experience and some off-trail backpacking experience (mostly in the Southwest).
This is my first post, so thanks a ton for any help!
