It's been a crummy year. I got cancer and lost my dog. The meds make me hurt like hell. Some friends are hiking the AT this weekend. I can drive in and hike a short distance and spend the night in the woods..I gotta go. To celebrate the end of radiation I bought myself a present..the Solplex. I have tried 2 Hexamids but just cannot get past laying that mesh floor on the ground-I was not raised that way. I ordered white but needed it fast and the olive was available right then. What a BEAUTIFUL tent. I love the bathtub floor and the tall entrance-no more crawling in and out. This will be very easy to pitch in the rain without getting the inside of the tent wet. Total weight including stuff sac, longer guy lines with micro line locs, 8 msr carbon core tent stakes inside zpacks tent stake sac is 16.06 oz. SWEET. Many thanks to Joe for making this in time for my trip. Christmas in July.

It seems like the Solplex has brought you joy and that is a good thing. Best of luck in your recovery!

By the way, "I was not raised that way" is a great line! I hope I'm reading the humor in it correctly.

Sunny,

Keep up the good fight! My brother in law had stomach cancer a while back and I got to see how sick he was from the treatments. Enjoy your time outdoors and the new tent. Where are you going on the AT?

Steven… yes it was ment to be funny but so true. I grew up camping at the lake and my life was full of outdoor gear. My daddy taught us to be very careful with gear and it just ain't right to lay thin mesh on the ground and put weight on top of it. Then I worry about it getting wet and dirty and this becomes a deal breaker for me. This is not the only gear wierdness I am afflicted with. I had one of the few Tarptent Squalls Classic tents made of spinnaker. I had to sell it. Your tent is not supposed to sound like aluminum foil blowing in the wind and yes neither is your sleeping pad :)

Congratulations on the new tent, finishing radiation and getting into the mountains. I hope that the beauty of the outdoors takes away some of the pain you are going through. Absolute best wishes in your battle.
