Take a look and see how well the Stove fits onto the bottom of the flat bottom Ridgeline pot. The raised lip on the pots bottom prevents slippage of the pot. I’ll do a video on Thursday when I get back in town.

There is a limit as I found out. But you can see the pot kinda sticks to the stove. Had 2 cups of water in the pot until the very end which was edited out, too many expletives:-)))

This is a photobucket video, click on it to watch.

Tried to watch the video but it wouldn't load. I'll try again later.

The posted weights are intriguing.

Ian, here's a link to youtube:

I might be mistaken…but I think this combination is the gram weaniest on the market when considering canister stoves.

Had a good tip come from someone at Whiteblaze. Peen the rivets used to attach the supports to the stove to make less wobbly as seen in the video. good tip.

I don't understand why anyone would think a pot sticking to a stove is a good thing… a disaster waiting to happen.

Also, I wonder how the people who use cans as pots rationalize the plastic coating on the inside of food/beverage cans… you do know that it will leach toxic chemicals into your food don't you? Especially when heated. Do you remove the plastic somehow??? Or just ignore the potential health issues in favor of saving a couple of ounces????

One boil worth of use will eliminate all chemicals in the lining. throw away the first 2 cups. Consider it "washing" the new pot.

Canned food is heat processed in the can and chemicals are released. You eat them on a regular basis if you eat canned food.

Beer cans are so much more elegant than plain ole titanium. The graphics are like the landscapes of Utah or any of the western states. Titanium is like Nebraska :-))

One other thing billy Ray, the pot does not stick to the Ion, It lifts of easily but does not slide off. Watch the video:

Looks like a great combination Dan.

.9 oz Foster Pot
1.5 oz Ion
~3.5 oz empty canister

Add a mini bic and a spoon, you start looking at a complete canister stove kit for less than 7oz.

I'll admit that I'm out of touch with the market when it comes to beer can pots. I looked at them a couple years ago but dismissed the idea when I realized that I'd have to carry them in a caddy to protect them thus losing the weight benefit. With the ridges, how will this pot do inside a pack w/o a caddy or whatever it's called?

Ian, I use a Trail Designs caddy so I can’t give you insight on the ridgeline pot being stored without a caddy. I have never received negative feedback nor have I seen anything written in the forums that was negative.

The Trail Design Caddy should fit the small fuel canister.

Here is some info on the Caddy and canister sizes:

Caldera Caddy
The Caldera Cone packing solution now available individually. The Caldera Caddy is a food grade plastic container that safely protects your Caldera Cone, 12-10 Stove, Fuel Bottle and other cooking items….AND doubles as a bowl and mug!!! It comes in 4 different sizes to fit your Caldera Cone perfectly. Currently shipping with new Caldera Cone and Classic Ti-Tri orders.

Snow Peak, and Optimus (90mm/3.5″ wide).

4oz canisters like Snow Peak and Jet Boil are 3.5″.

The caddy from trail designs can fit a 3 cup capacity pot and loooong spoon.

The Ion can remain attached to it’s canister for storage. If it’s speed you’re looking for in the evenings this is the set-up that just might fit your needs.
