I'm planning a multi-day colder weather backpacking trip with a couple friends (expecting the high temperatures to be 45 degrees F or less). To make the evenings a little more enjoyable and to let us dry out some gear, we were thinking of bringing along some kind of shelter that we could heat up with a back-packable wood stove.

I was wondering if a large flat tarp with doors on the ends (like a big "winter" hammock tarp) might work for this? It seems most people use pyramid tarps with wood stoves. It would be for about 3-4 people, mainly hanging out and cooking dinner. Other ideas?

Any stove recommendations?

How did you plan to vent the smoke? Are you talking about one of those small bp cook stoves, or one you assemble from sheet metal with a chimney?
