    @iparider

    I'm into trimming all the long webbing on my packs, but don't sew, and have been looking for a minimalist solution for the cut ends that gives a little something to grip and preventing the strap from running through clip/adjuster.

    I was thinking of something like this, but couldn't find any US sources:

    webbing end

    Perhaps I'm searching with the wrong terms (webbing ends? webbing terminals (a la the Brits)???

    Help?

    I cut mine to length, fold over and sew a loop on the end. Same results but lighter. Sewing is really easy and you might find a good used machine?

    Of course melt the cut ends to seal. To prevent it slipping though you can just fold and sew. You will need to make a cheap sewing awl to do this, and take about 10 minute to learn how to use it. Make the loops at the end bigger if you want to actually put some appendage or cord through them.

    Anyway, some simple ideas. I'd say the sewing awl is the next step beyond cutting stuff off if you want to make basic mod of packs and heavier gear items. Makes more sense in the long run to have this simple but multi-use skill than to look for prefabbed solutions each time.

    You mean just to add thickness to the end? Interesting.

    Yes. Something different, and no sew.

    A simple knot in the end will do the trick.

    How about putting half of a snap, or a Chicago screw, through it, about an inch from the end?

    yes, sewing is the best solution, except that I have a long and troubled history with it, and have no plans to get a machine.

    I had thought of folding the cut/melted end over and putting some kind of backed pin through it, but the pieces pictured in my original post seem like a decent option to try…if I can easily get ahold of them.

    Fold over an inch and use:

    A needle and thread.
    A grommet.
    A binder post screw.
    A copper rivet seated with a hammer.
    A button
    A bachelors button.
    Epoxy

    @iparider

    thx – some options to get me out of my state of paralysis…not too complicated a problem, but one that has had me just not seeing many appealing solutions.

    Perhaps I will tempt fate and sew…Binder posts might do the trick too…
