My family of 5 is now too big for my BA copper spur4 with my kids now 9,8,6 yrs old, so I am planning on adding a SS2 for my wife and I. I love everything I have seen and think it would be ideal for us, but it has no pockets. I sent an email to HS re this but wondered if others here had a good myog option.

I am fearful to sew into the bug mesh, feel the clips above may be a bit fragile to attach to it and would rather have the pocket low int the tent so I don't have to sit up to access it. As the sun comes up, a eye-blinder adds a bit more time for my wife to sleep. Ideally a pocket low would be easier to grab and use without waking up too much. Also if the kids wake up at night I have a close by light to point their way. My best friend got back recently from an AT segment and told me about how he scrambled for a light loose in his while his kid in a hammock was hollering because a bear sniffed him in the middle of the night. I toss and turn a lot and don't want to fumble for loose stuff laid next to me. My old kelty 2 man that we have been using has a pocket, but weighs 6#, hence the SS2 intention.

I figured this would be a pretty easy thing to fix, and wondered if folks here had recommendations on what options I might have.

Thanks,
Chris

Don't know why you couldn't sew a mesh or nylon pocket along the seam at the top of the bathtub floor near a corner. Or even just a loop that you could clip a small stuff sack or ul storage sack to out of the way near a corner. The loop and clip would be my choice so I could use the sack elsewhere as well.

I just put my stuff in an upside down hat while I sleep. It keeps stuff together. I leave it in the corner by my head.

I would guess that if you don't wear hats this won't work, but then I'd just be stating the obvious

I don't wear a hat typically, and if I did I could easily tump it over for how turbulent I sleep. I like the clip on the top of the bathtub floor idea the best as I could reuse a dittybag in that role. I figured something like that would be best, but didn't know if someone would have a different 'AH HAH!' type of idea as well.

I enquired about this before buying my SS2 and Henry suggested I hang a line below the ridge line. It works pretty well.

As for a light, I keep a photon freedom keychain light on a string which I hang around my neck while setting up camp and leave there until I'm repacking in the morning.

I have a clothesline in my Stratospire 2 and it works fine for dangling my head lamp or attaching a ditty sack to. A pocket or clip sewn into the corner would be a bit more convenient, but the clothesline is a simple, no-sew alternative. You can let the line hang as high or low as you want to either be out of the way or more accessible without sitting up.
