Someone wanted to know if a Trail Designs “Gram Craker” would work if placed on top of a StarLyte Stove (burner portion).

It won’t work unless the GCraker is disassembled and the center part is placed upside down on top of the burner portion of the StarLyte stove.

3 test results today using (3)4 gram tablets placed as shown in the photos. Water was 70 degrees starting temp. air temp 75 degrees. I used a full size flat bottom Foster pot.

1st test: 2 cups boiled in 11.5 min, vigorous boil continued for 4 min, flame out at 16.25 min.

2nd test: 2 cups boiled 12.5 min, vigorous boil continued for 4.25 min., flame out 19min.

3rd test: 2 cups boiled 12.5 min, vigorous boil continued for 4.5 min., flame out??? accidently shut timer off.

Note to esbit users: once the box of 4 gram tablets is opened the smell dissipates over a 24hr period of time. Using them today was an OK situation. Denmark was right ;-)

I removed the GCraker and just placed the 3 tablets on top of an aluminum disct that protest the stainless steel screen on the burner portion of the stove. I used the last of my 4 gram tablets on the final test.

70 degree starting water temp. of the 2 cups of water.

I stacked the 3 tablets same as previous tests.

I used a windscreen in close proximity of pot, completely surrounded. 3/8″

Water boiled in 7 min. and flame out at 9min.45sec.

Those of you that have the StarLyte stove can now feel free to use Esbit.(no smell 4gram ;-)
