I saw a mention of the Stephenson VB system in another thread. So I checked on the Warmlight site –

“We’ve used VB since 1955, and all Stephenson bags have had VB since 1968, a major reason for enthusiasm of users. The VB is as “breathable” as Goretex (as defined by their level of humidity transfer), and thus an excellent vapor barrier for this use. “

Can anyone explain how something as “breathable as GoreTex” can be a vapor barrier?

Or do they just need a good copy editor?

My guess is the reason why they have a topless woman in the sleeping bag halfway down the page is to distract the customer enough so questions like that aren't asked.

Looking at the tests and histories of these bags I think the VB concept depends mostly on the individuals biology. Some testers claim the VB Liner is clammy and makes them sweat uncontrollably and is uncomfortable. Other testers raved it was wonderful and the perfect night of sleep. So I think the only way you will ever know is to buy one and see how it works for you or if you are the type that sweats heavily than take a pass on it.

I think so.

Stephenson products have been routinely ridiculed for decades because of their crazy marketing.

Stephenson's is implying Goretex breathes poorly and would make a fine vapor barrier despite its marketing hype. I own one of their bags which I use strictly for deep winter activities. The website is odd but the owners were very friendly to deal with.
