Lost Creek Wilderness 6/27/2014
We took 2 cars and shuttled the following route: Up Brookside/ McCurdy to Craig Park Meadow and back down Ben Tyler. 17 miles and about 3500 ft climbing. 2 nights.

My Sister, 11 year old daughter, and I set out about 5p on Friday:

It was pretty nice right out of the gate:

We only hiked about 3 miles in on day one and found a spot to get us through the evening:

The next morning Breinn the conductor lead the trees in the modern piece, "Glisten For Me", in A minor:

We finally made it to Craig Park:

Mountain House Apple Crisp is good $h!t:

…and chewing with the new grille was quite convenient:

There were some interesting things growing here and there. I think it is some type of fungus. Anyone know? They looked like a half severly rusted soda can:

Here are a couple panoramic shots of the meadow. I wanted to link them to avoid the compression of fitting in this window:

After our home made dehydrated fettuccine alfreado with chicken and broccoli, we made some pudding for dessert that came out well. Pour in a bag and, "shake shake shake, shake your pudding". You know the tune:

It went fast:
yumm

I liked our campsite. It was right across the trail from an underground spring:

Does it get any better than this? (my cup of wine is not in the pic):
ahhhhhhh

The next morning we finnished the final leg of the Craig Park trail and were rewarded with quite a view:

The trek down Ben Tyler was pretty long but scenic and green:

The last mile always takes longer than the first 16:

Made it to the trailhed, all stinky:

I was sooo proud of my daughter. She now has the physical ability and backpacking knowledge of an adult – at age 11. She is already planning what new gear she *needs* and what routes to take next. "I think we need to go hiking more often". Ohhhh yeah!

trip report. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The pictures conveyed the essence of the trip very well indeed. Your daughter is one lucky child to have parents that take the care you did in introducing her to what will now very likely be a life long passion. Some are not so fortunate. Good on you both.

Very nice TR. I enjoyed it and the pictures. I'm just getting started with my son. I hope he is as capable as your daughter when he is eleven!

Actually, I wish I was as competent as her. :)
