"I'm not inclined to be nice this morning."

Nor should you be. Talk is cheap.

We talked about a Washington GGG last year but that's all it was. Hopefully 2015 it'll become a reality.

I am dis-inclinded to do any group gatherings or trips. Call me anti-social.

However, the "self service" rally is pretty common on some camper forums. One person just starts the thread and updates the list of attendees.

In 2005 my wife and I attended one of these rallies in RMNP, with dozens of families that showed up in their tent trailers. Very successful and little work for the organizer. We did participate in some ad hoc group activities, but mostly went hiking by ourselves.

We attended one earlier this year also. We went to the pot luck and that was about it. It was good to meet some folks I had communicated online over the years in person. Others at the rally socialized most of the time they were there.

So they do work. Of course if no one is willing to try this and seems to think only Ken can pull it off, then there will be no more GGG. If those who participated in the past want another one, then it is up to one of them to step up.

I could care less, I don't do groups at work, with family, or in my leisure.

OK folks, I have taken a first step for what hopefully will become GGG #7. This will be along the lines of the "self service rally" suggested by Nick Gatel.

I have reserved Campsite #56 at Samuel P. Taylor State Park for Thursday 1/29/15 – 2/1/15. The campsite is located on the "Orchard Hill Loop." Hopefully this gets the ball rolling.

Here is the web site for Samuel P. Taylor State Park:

Here is the web site for Reserve America, where you can book reservations:

Anyone with a clue about what else to do please chime in. For example, I have no idea how to contact and invite gear companies/individuals.

I will start a new thread for the event, and update the original post with attendees as they sign up. If/when you reserve a site, send me a PM with your name and site number and I will update the OP.

Here is the new thread (I hope…I'm not too good with links & stuff):

Thanks Eric. Maybe you could do the same thing with the new thread back to this one, please?
