A friend of mine will have a few days off in Sydney and is looking for some dayhikes in the area. He's trying to stick with taxis and public transit if at all possible.

G'day.

I'd recommend royal national park (about an hour away from Sydney and accessible by train and ferry) and doing part of the coastal track:

Or heading up to blackheath by train (about 2hrs away from Sydney cbd) and doing the walk to junction rock via Grand Canyon :

Lots of other nice spots but these are two favourites.

Cheers

Train to Mt Kuringai station.
East along road and then down to sea.
North to Berowra inlet
Up W to Berowra station
West to Berowra Hts
Down to Great North Walk track
S to Calna Ck
E to mt Kuringai Station.

A scenic and vigorous walk …

Cheers
