Looking for a daypack for a specific niche in my activities I can't seem to fill. I need the daypack to do the following:

1. Good hipbelt with lots of support to keep my weight on my hips when bikepacking.
2. Room enough for an 11" Macbook Air in a soft case and drybag.
3. Durable, abrasion-resistant for climbing and everyday use.

Size no smaller than the macbook, but no larger than 20L. 15L seems ideal.

Not too heavy, but weight is #4 on my priority list. Anyone have a particularly good idea?

Thank you!

How about a vestpack? Should hold the load closer to your body for better stability while biking.

I was looking at this one recently:

According to search, it's never been talked about on BPL before–figured I'd throw it out there. It appears to be pretty waterproof, so you might not need a drybag.

Have you looked at Wingnut Packs? I use one of the smaller ones when I mountain bike and once I got it adjusted I love it. The weight sits low on the back which is ideal for biking but I've never used it hiking or climbing so I can't speak to how they perform in those activities.

The BD Nitro looks good. Anyone have experience with durability on any of the Osprey packs? I had a Talon 20 once that looked like swiss cheese after one light fall on the trail… Not sure if different models have different material weights?

The Talon is one of the lighter ones.
The Kestrel series for example I've taken through 1000+km last year and they're doing great.

One of the best carrying packs I know. Good tall torso (adjustable) length.

Probably a bit big if you're looking for 15/20L. I used to go with a 28L but changed to a 32 panel loader.

I use and abuse the crap out of my talon 22. I use it for my light and fast trips of 3-4 days. It's carries ridiculously well, and the hip belts / pockets are super convenient and spacious.

I wear the Osprey Stratos 24 in my daily commute (20-30mi round trip) by bicycle. I like it because the hipbelt works just fine for cycling, it easily accommodates a hydration bladder, some tools and anything else I might need for the day, and the compression system does a great job of turning it from a fully-fledged pack into a tiny hydration bag. I can even put my phone and snacks in the hipbelt pockets and operate them one-handed, so nothing has to be in my pockets.

But the real reason I chose it where it wins above all else is a very comfortable suspended mesh back, which curves enough to your back for riding while keeping air flowing all the time. This makes such a huge difference in comfort that this bag is the only one I want to use during hot weather, especially for high aerobic output.

I don't use the Stratos for climbing because it is too big and inflexible to climb while wearing, and too small to carry my climbing gear in. But for any other day excursions, this one really takes the cake.
