ok, so i used a borah gear bug bivy with my hmg echo 2 tarp setup and loved it…EXCEPT for the fact that i was sliding all over the place during the night. i did have my neoair inside the bivy, waterproof sil nylon bottom was in contact with the grassy floor. is there anything i can do to stop from sliding all over the place…i have heard people put seam sealer on the bottom of their air mats for inside of tents. would this work for silnylon on grass? any other proven techniques that i should know about? thanks in advance.

If it's the bivy sliding on the grass you're concerned with, you could add stake-out loops to your bivy. Just two should do it. My Borah bivy (eVent) has them built in.

yes, it was on grass. i at first had it set up on a piece of polycryo but that was even worse. i just noticed that my borah bivy does have two loops at the bottom…you think that should do it? or am i at risk of ripping my bivy if i thrash?

I don't think you're in any more danger of ripping it than you would with a tent, typically.

But I'm not sold on how useful stakes at the foot end would be. I would think you'd want stakes at the head end to keep you from sliding ever so slowly downhill–no spot is perfectly flat and you should sleep with you head uphill to prevent headaches.
