Hey everyone, do you guys know how often (if at all) Arc'teryx items go on sale? I've noticed that it seems to be pretty damn rare.. and even if they are on sale it's usually just XL/XXL sizes or the ugly colors.

I'm wanting to buy the Cerium LT Hooded down jacket and the Alpha FL rain jacket so I'm wondering if it's worth holding out for a sale or not?

Only time I've been able to get a discount on Arc'teryx stuff is at REI during one of their season sales. Every other place seems to have restrictions on the coupons preventing you from using them on the brand. From what I understand, Arc'teryx is one of the more tightly restricted brands when it comes to pricing and sales, so you may just have to pony up and pay full price. Some sites have previous season merchandise on sale, but it's often in weird sizes and colors.

That said, I have the Cerium LT as well as an Alpha SV and think the money I spent on both was well worth it. That said, I did pick up both from REI with a coupon some time back, and probably would have been much more hesitant to pay full price for either.

I wouldn't hold out for a sale; even if they do the discounts are unlikely to be significant. My suggestion would be to keep an eye on the gear swap sections of related forums and pick up a used one; BPL and MountainProject are both decent sites to watch. Also, geartrade.com is used by backcountry to sell returned items (the seller name will be "Backcountry"), but the only hooded Cerium they have at the moment is a women's large.

I've gotten several used ArcTeryx garments on Ebay. One of them I had recently sent back to ArcTeryx for a warranty repair and they gave me credit for a new jacket – even though I had bought it on Ebay many years earlier.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or serious Dave lol. How do you manage that?

Kind of hoping there might be some sales around on July 4th.

Backcountry.com outlet is a good place to start.

I shop at the Vancouver outlet store as well.

Oh yeah I have seen a few at Backcountry.com outlet, but they are always XL or XXL.. at least from what I've seen.

I've rarely bought Arc for MSRP. Maybe a pair of pants for $90 but pants are expensive regardless these days.

Anyway, backcountry/outlet and REI are great places. Once you have your sizing down, I've gotten a fair amount from geartrade. Also REI garage sales usually have deep discounts on returned gear. You just can't be picky on colors.
