It wasn't GoreTex…but it was a fairly often used material (for other items) that I can't for the life of me remember the name of. Anyone?

PTFE Lite ?
Last time I was in their Seattle store, it was Pertex.
Neither of those ring a bell.
The material in question was used ~15 or more yrs ago. Can't believe I have forgotten what it was called.
I "think" they also used EPIC, but that is more highly water resistant and breathable than true WPB.
They also previously used Pertex Endurance. This had durability issues, because it uses a very thin, air permeable coating of PU.
Dryloft ?
Try contacting David Gardner on here. He has an old wpb feathered friends bag.
Why don't you try calling or emailing the source… FF

Dryloft. I think that's it! Thank you!!
Cause that would be the smart way of doing things. ;-)
Thanks, Billy. I will do that just to verify.
That's the old name for Windstopper-use in sleeping bags.
Looking back to 1998 I believe the first waterproof/breathable fabric they use was call PTFE Lite. It incorporated a new PTFE from BHA Technologies and gave a better resistance to water entry that DryLoft, while nearly equal breathability. I also believe EPIC by Nextec was another option but did not have the fabric characteristics as the PTFE Lite.
Taslite PTFE was use reinforcement patches on the clothing I believe, that provided waterprofness and breathability while the heavier denier of the fabric improved abrasion resistance.
Hope this helps.
