awesome quilt, smelly down.

For the people that had this issue did the smell eventually go away? The quilt I just received is extra smelly when it’s outside with any amount of moisture in the air but in doors with air conditioning the smell isn’t very noticeable.

joe …. youll notice less of the smell as time goes on … and eventually after a bit of washing (dont wash it specifically because of it though)

however when its wet even the “best” down can have a bit of a smell when damp … my WM bag has a bit when condensation hits it

its also more noticeable from internal (body vapor) condensation, which can be minimized in several ways

The smell on my quilt disappeared.  I’m not sure exactly how long it took to air out, but it never really was an issue, so I’m guessing it was fine within a couple weeks of receiving it.  I’m thinking possibly there is a humidity factor.  The quilt is built in the high humidity environment of Minnesota and “de-gassed” a bit in the dry climate of California.
