I've made the following stove:

There is an option to put some fiberglass insulation in it to serve as a wick. I have not tried it and am wondering what effect it will have. I've read that the insulation adds surface area to increase combustion but I'm wondering if this will cause the stove to burn faster/hotter (something I don't want).
Does anybody know what effects the fiberlass insulation has in general on a stove?

It has been my experience that any gains you get from the presence of the fiberglass in the stove are offset by the loss of fuel capacity. For a steady burn and maximum fuel capacity, try a heat transfer system like Tinny at minibulldesigns.com uses.
