if you add an item to the shopping cart, you can enter the code down where all the dollars are adding up.

I know these coupons float around frequently, but I don't receive the email newsletters. Does a 40%-off coupon pop up often?

Going to grab some, Smartwool socks, Cascadia 8 and NB M10!

Couldn't help myself and got an Icebreaker Spint Crew shirt as well. Nice base layer for the cold.

Hi M L,

Do a general search on Sierra Trading post coupons. I receive the emails, but hadn't gotten one in awhile, so i did the above and found a 35% coupon code that worked, and was very helpful at the time.

Dude, you just saved me over $150 on two pairs of shoes I wanted this year. Thanks for posting that one, first time I've ever really needed stuff and could save money rather than just buying stuff I don't need from these posts, much appreciated!

I just put in a huge order.

Icebreaker underwear and base layers
2 pairs of trail runners
Smartwool socks
Head UV Buff
Headlamp

All up saved $447! Thanks a lot OP, wouldn't have seen this otherwise.

I was almost done with checkout and the discount disappeared! Lame. Thanks anyway.

I can never figure out their pricing structure, and it seems like the same item might be two or three different prices at the same time, depending on how you arrive at the page where it's listed. Their prices change all the time, and seem to rise and fall from hour to hour or even minute to minute. Shipping and charges are a mystery. I really don't like buying from them very much.

But then again… they do have some crazy sales every once in a while, and 40% off across the board is tough to pass up. I got a new rain jacket yesterday- it was already on sale for 30% off, so in all I ended up with a 58% discount… and didn't mind paying $6 for shipping!

Sometimes if you leave stuff in your cart you will get an email offering free shipping. It's a gamble if the item sells out or the discount du jour expires.

>> "it seems like the same item might be two or three different prices at the same time, depending on how you arrive at the page where it's listed."

It doesn't just seem that way, it be. I receive at least one e-mail a day from them, and at any given time there are multiple valid codes/coupons. I have pulled up an item and seen a discount based on the link I used, gone to a different e-mail and retrieved a different code, plugged that in at the website then re-loaded the original item and see a different price (or different shipping costs, to me all part of "price".)

Finding the best price on a single item isn't so bad, but on a cart full of items when you change the code you could see some prices go down while others go up, shipping go from free to charge, etc.

It's almost as though they are targeting a certain segment who like to try to "game" the system, so they have designed a system for such people to have fun with and feel triumphant when they have found a better price on the same website. Or, maybe that's over-thinking it — maybe they just throw a bunch of different hooks in the water with all different kinds of bait on a hope and a prayer…

Well coupon labyrinths and riddle games aside… lot's of times their prices are lower than what you can get that product for retail anyways.

new code for today:

KBJ0660J

"$15 eDeals Card on orders $100+ and An Extra 40% OFF 22,000+ Items!"

Usually as the discount goes up, availability of interesting items goes down. I can almost always find nice socks, though.

I looked last night, nothing I really needed. Sleeping bags were for colder conditions than what i was looking for at the moment.

My manic watching of sierra deals leads me to believe this…
Every other Wednesday, they will release a 40% off everything (with a few exclusions) deal via twitter, from about 5pm until midnight. This happened this past week, so it will occur next on June 18th.

Obviously not as good a deal as the 45% or the 40% + $15 edeals, but it is on pretty much everything. It also allows you to plan and add things to your card over a couple weeks instead of frantically adding when a good sale is e-mailed to you.

Justin,

Thanks–this just worked for me–there was a 40% off coupon available and the STP site accepted it.

STP (my initials–just a coincidence ;-))
