I am sure someone has posted about this before so I apologize for redundancy. If someone could send me the links to a thread, that would be very much appreciated. Unfortunately, my searches have not been fruitful.

I am trimming an inflatable back pad for my Kumo. However, I have also thought about trimming a large NeoAir down to torso length to take advantage of the increased width.

I have seen the instructions on MLD's website for the back pad, but I was wondering if a trim for the NeoAir is a similar operation?

I can't sleep on a 20" pad without my shoulders overlapping the sides.

I appreciate the insight and tips!

Thanks in advance.

Trimming Neoair and using a steam iron to seal them back up was a major craze a few years ago. Searching for trimmed Neoair will get you too it.

So cutting a NeoAir shorter is an established deal, but has anyone cut one down in width/ I'm thinking of making a tapered pad, so I get the width I want at the elbows but then it tapers so I don't have unneeded width lower down.

Thanks everyone!

The problem, for me, with the GG pad is the lack of insulation. What temps did you use it in?

Hello Kelly,
I don't know for sure how low the temperature got but for
2 nights on the Gila river at around 6500-7000ft my wet
shoes were frozen solid but my water bottle was not.
So I'd assume somewhere in the high 20's ?
It was getting chilly but I made it ok in my 20° ZPacks sleeping
bag with a light down jacket for the hood.
The Zpacks bag doesn't have a hood but it zips up the bottom so
I guess that makes it a "sorta" quilt.
I tried the pad in my back yard this last winter in the mid teens
and it definitely wasn't warm enough. I had to come inside and
get a 1/2" foam pad to use over it.
