Just received my Rohan Ether Windshirt–quite fast (and free) shipping from the UK–very impressed by that.

However, not impressed that the outer part of the fabric has no water repellency whatsoever despite being made out of all polypropylene and being called a "windshirt". Must say, also way over breathable for a "windshirt" CFM is easily 2.5 to 3 x's older Houdini's.

I did know, going in, that it had "wicking" properties, but silly me thought that this would apply more to the inner side of the fabric, and that the outer would not be designed/treated thusly.

Other than all that, it's a really nice looking shirt and it seems like it's pretty durable and tough for weighing 5 oz, and will dry lightning fast–with body heat, in the matter of handful of minutes.

Think i'm going to return it, as i was looking for the innate high water repellency of polypropylene and a more tightly weaved, true windshirt. Back to square one.

Well, i'm not going to take pics of a shirt i'm going to be returning, but here is the US version of the Rohan website, with the Ether showing.

Yes, it looks more like a dress shirt than a more typical windshirt as we call them in the states. I think Chris Townsend did a review of this shirt somewhere out there in the web.

It's a really well made shirt, but dang it, i want water repellency. I called them up and asked if had a finish that i could deliberately wash off via extreme methods.. The first lady didn't know, the 2nd lady said that it didn't have a finish, but i'm not sure i believe her. I might try washing it off first, and if that doesn't work, then send it back.
