I haven't been to Juneau yet, but I'd imagine there are some good hikes in the area. Juneau is also an easy ferry ride to Haines or Skagway which can open the door to hiking the Coastal Mountain range (near the Chilkoot), or Alsek and Kluane parks.
I'm in Whitehorse and Skagway is only an hour and a half south so let me know if you do plan on heading that direction and maybe we can meet up for a hike. We'll be doing the Chilkoot ourselves from Aug 10 – 14th.
Here is a site that will give you a few ideas if you do head to Haines or Skagway. Lots of potential for multi-day hikes.
Cheers,
Travis
Hi there
Two summer ago, I was asking the exact same question on here. With the research I did, there is not a whole lot of options around that area for multi-day hikes. One option would be to go out to some of the more remote/ larger islands off the coast of Juneau.
What I ended up doing was a short 2 night hiking trip to a lake right outside of Juneau. I then came back into town, swapped out my gear and we rented kayaks for 9 days and did an AWESOME paddle trip off the coast of Juneau to a bunch of different islands. If you are open to it, I would suggest doing a paddle trip off the coast. There are some really awesome places to paddle to and camp at, some beautful views of the glaciers, excellent fishing and great wildlife viewing. If your interested in this option I can give ya more details about what we did for our trip.
