I don't want to do a typical silicone coating that gets rid of all breathability. I'm assuming it might be difficult to do an epic like coating?

of course. Just take the thread of your choice, soak it in silicone, then weave your fabric….

Try using silicone with lots of mineral spirits.

Maybe wipe it off with paper towel.

Choose fabric with loose enough weave.

Hi Jmole,

I've heard two conflicting things about EPIC. Some say what you've said, that they coat the individual fibers before weaving the fabric. Others have said that they stretch out the fabric, apply a silicone slurry of some sort, and then take a wide blade and run that down the fabric while it's stretched out, then they let off the tension of the fabric.

Not being an "insider", i don't know which one is accurate (maybe both are, there might be two processes?). If anyone knows more concretely, please lend your 3 cents to us unenlightened.

Thank you for the tip Jerry.

I wonder, (and i know it would be more expensive), would it make any difference if i used 100% silicone adhesive, rather than silicone caulk? Would it stick better to the surface?

Will mineral spirits affect it though?

Dang it Jerry, that's not what i wanted to hear, i want quick, comprehensive, simple answers! ;)

Actually, i find experimenting fun, unless it wastes a lot of my money.
