I'm headed to Wheeler Peak NM next week and I'm trying to decide whether to take my cool new Lazr nail stakes or stick with the GoLite Y-stakes that came with my Lair. In the hard ground of TX those nail stakes hold great–in the soft loam of Wheeler's pine forests, I'm wondering whether they'll just slip right out of the ground.
Anybody have any experience or advice?
I would take both and try the nails out so you know what they can and can not do. It is not like you will notice the extra 1 3/4 oz for 6 Lazr nails in your pack.
And if the nails do seem to slip you can find some big rocks to hold them in place or use the Y-stakes.
