I've been considering getting a Nikon AW120 for my new trail camera… does anyone know if the GPS actually functions like a GPS or is it limited to location tagging photos?

I have the AW110 and it is for tagging only. I leave it off because it also drains the battery faster, more so when the sky is blocked by foliage and it is furiously searching for satellites!
However, the lens is incredibly sharp for such a small package, and with a very useful zoom range. With a 64gig SD card you could photograph around the world a couple of times and still have space on the card.
