So my thinking here is to adhere some velcro to:
1. A Zpacks Twin size Groundsheet Poncho
2. 18" of mesh
3. My BPWWD PyraTent and my HMG 8.5'x8.5' flat tarp.
The hope here is to have a very modular setup that can work with either the tarp or mid. By attaching the mesh to the groundsheet poncho, I can then velcro the mesh to the mid or tarp for an enclosed shelter.
This would save me from carrying a:
1. Flat tarp (10oz w/lines) + Shell (8oz) + Net Tent (12oz) = 30oz
2. Mid (16.5 oz w/lines) + Shell (8oz) + Net Tent (12oz) = 36.5oz
I could replace these above setups with:
1. Flat tarp (10oz w/lines) + Groundsheet Poncho (6.1oz) + Mesh (5oz) + Windshirt (4oz) = 25.1 oz
2. Mid (16.5 oz w/lines) + Groundsheet Poncho (6.1oz) + Mesh (5oz) + Windshirt (4oz) = 31.6 oz
Granted, I would lose the versatility to pitch the net tent by itself or under my GoLite Poncho/Tarp. However, I could affix velcro to the pocho/tarp as well and have a very light enclosed shelter.
Can anyone provide any objections or insight to my plan?
I understand that there may be small gaps in between the velcro and material, be it groundsheet or tarp/mid, but I hope to place the vecro tape in small increments such that it is flush with the material.
