Brian, I think you need two packs.
For the summit pack consider the Patagonia Lightweight Travel Pack ($36) at 10 ounces, or the Golite Ion ($50) at 9 ounces. 20 and 25 liters, respectively. Or even the REI Flash.
A summit pack is dead weight until you depart high camp for the top, so you want it as light as possible. And class 3 summits don't require any climbing gear so maybe you can get by with less than 30 liters? The Patagonia was my choice because of its three external pockets and durable materials. If you only carry a few essentials these could be your day pack.
A daypack should provide more comfort than a summit pack since you are carrying all the essentials and a days worth of food. For that, the Jet does look like a bargain.
Or, thinking outside the box, you could consider the Outdoor Research Drycomp Summit sack, It is the drysack for your sleeping bag and down jacket on the approach, and converts to a summit sack. 10.5 ounces, $60 with free shipping;
