I'm looking for good "hybrid" Underwear/shorts for wearing by themselves in warm and on-trail and under pants otherwise. I've been using compression shorts, but they're not the most socially acceptable and seem to fray easily and aren't quite substantial enough to sit on rough grohnd. I'm intrigued by references to the Golite Stride Shorts, but they seem to be discontinued. Any similar shorts or other options people recommend?

I currently wear the Golite Mesa 9" trail running shorts in size medium. In fact, I'm wearing them in my avatar. They weigh 5.48 ounces on my scale. I think I picked them up for 25$ on sale. They have a liner. They fit great and dry quickly. Only downside is they tend to stink up quickly. I use them for all of my trail runs. I've had them about a year with constant abuse and no problems so far.
