Planning a fastpacking/trail running trip for Memorial Day weekend, most likely starting in Tuolumne Meadows or possibly yosemite valley or even Mammoth/Red's meadow depending on snow levels, etc. I live in the east bay and rather than drive alone I thought I'd see if anyone wants to carpool, hike/run together, or both. I was thinking of doing either the high sierra camp loop or mammoth to yosemite valley on the JMT, or something similar.

I'm planning 30-50 miles per day, not sure at this point if I'll be doing an overnight fastpack or long runs each day from the campground. If anyone wants to share a ride/campsite, that would be great – if you want to do a different hike that is totally fine too. I have a car or can ride in yours.

My plan is to leave work early afternoon on friday, and return to the bay area on monday evening. If you are interested, post here or email me at acurrano [at] gmail [dot] com.

I don't think that very much is open in the high country, campgrounds, for instance.

that they'd open the campground by then, and that enough snow would melt by then to make the high country feasible… but if not, it may make more sense to start in Yosemite Valley. will see how it looks. Last weekend it was mostly snow free up to around 8500 feet. Not sure how much has melted since then but it was pretty warm for a few days at least.

As of this morning Tioga pass is closed. Sonora pass too I believe. Sounds like they got a few inches (I heard 8 somewhere but have not verified that) of new snow in tuolumne. So I'm rethinking my plans…either start in the valley or if the pass opens maybe bring snowshoes and start in Tuolumne…won't be doing huge mileage in the snow obviously but if anyone is interested in a bit of adventure let me know! Looks like it will be warm this weekend so the new snow may melt fast.
