    Just to clarify, Jack refers to the trail pass on the Sierra Nevada crest near Independence California, Inyo National Forest.

    @dapperdave

    The trail was damaged by storms in July 2013
    Some reports here

    The Info forest rangers would know if any repairs have been made yet

    @acurrano

    I went up that trail on labor day weekend 2013, to climb Mt. Williamson. There were a couple large sections of trail well below the pass (I think within 1-2 hours from the trailhead) that had been BADLY washed out, but it was passable even in the dark with a bit of routefinding. I doubt it has been repaired since then but it may be a bit more obvious as it has likely had some additional use since then.

    "There were a couple large sections of trail well below the pass (I think within 1-2 hours from the trailhead) that had been BADLY washed out"

    That agrees with the earlier reports.

    It would be interesting to hear if Inyo N.F. has any repair plans before this year's backpacking season gets going much.
