I am contemplating bringing my Tenkara kit (around 7 ounces) but I am not sure if there will even be a chance to fish the trail. But I know I would be very distraught to see a trout and not be able to fish for it. Did you guys see much fishable water on your previous philmont treks?

At certain places, like Fish Camp or Hunting Lodge, that is an activity. And they give you gear.

The rest of the time, I wouldnt expect to have much time to do that anywhere. Hike, crew activities, eat, is about it.

Depends on your Trek. I was at Fish Camp in 2010 and we saw no fish in the water. I assume you are contemplating catch and release. When the boys asked if they could eat what they caught the rangers said no. Remember you need a New Mexico fishing license.
