Not exactly UL, but dual use and less weight than some dedicated chair options. Anyone have experience with this, seems well reviewed.

for me 19oz would be way to heavy for a dedicated chair.

I use a 3-4oz cut up zlite pad that also acts as a mat for my vestibule.

I simply don't understand why all of these chair kits weigh so much. My Alite Monarch is 21oz including way overbuilt stuff sack. That includes enough poles to construct a 4 season tent. Why can't anyone make a chair kit for a sleeping pad that weighs less than a pound?

I've thought about the MYOG rout, is there much more that the slip on covers, some webbing, and a few spars to keep the back straight? Am I missing something that requires all of these chair kits to often weight more than the pad itself?

I'm guessing the reason is because the gram weenies don't really ever use chairs. If I really need to sit, I can bring a scrap of a ridge rest and use a log for a back rest. Honestly, backpacking chairs that are low to the ground are never all that comfortable – at least compared to a real chair. There probably just isn't much demand. The other reason I can see is because chairs take a significant amount of load compared to tent poles. When you sit in a chair you are loading a 90* joint in a way that puts a ton of stress on it. These joints need to be heavy to support your weight be comfortable.

My (slightly older) 20" wide TAR Trekker chair kit weighs 6.9oz in its mesh stuff sack.

Not too bad. (I prefer one of my off-the-ground chairs, like the Alite or the REI one, but they are MUCH heavier!)
