Here is a brief summary of a hiking trip I did last October with my girlfriend: video.

Day 1 – Mifaffi Valley: We drove from our home to the “Mifafi Condor Reserve” where they make an effort to keep this unique species, and there, we started the trek at 12,000 feet. It’s a beautiful landscape.

After a couple of hours we arrived at “El Domo”, a domed peak where we ate some snacks and enjoyed the views.

We took a couple of hours to reach the highest point of the day at 14,000 feet and then, just a little ahead was our camping area, under “Los Nevados” peak.

Temperatures dropped below 30F that night, there was also a fierce thunderstorm behind the mountains, but did not affect our camp.

Day 2 – Exploration day: We were not sure of the route to take to the peaks, it was our first time there, so I decided to do a little exploration. It was a relaxing day (still a 4-5 hours walk), with some great views of the mountains.

That night we heard some wild dogs, but they stayed away from us.

Day 3 – Return to civilization: Well, our first day “backwards”; but downhill, so it was much easier.

Time flew and I was eager to return, in fact I did, but that’s another report to be done ;-)
