Well time to out another rei item from my list. My sleeping bag.

Now that I see there are other great items offered that are sewn in the us there really isn't a need or reason for rei for me anymore!

Anywho

I need help on buying a quilt. I've actually never liked using a sleeping bag the traditional way. I hate mummy cut and am always to big for them. For example the rei flash sleeping bag I have is really tight that my legs compress the down enough in the sides of the bag that I get cold spots. The bag works much better for me unzipped and laying over me like a quilt.

SO!

I've been eyeing the EE enigma and revolution. Could someone tell be the difference of the two? Descriptions in the website are a little generic. Other than the cut, what's the diff??

Or could anyone point me to other quilts I am over looking?

And,!

There was a thread about walmarts ozark and converting that to a quilt but I couldn't find the thread anymore. Has someone got a link for me??

I am looking for a 30-40 degree quilt around 200-300 dollars.

The difference between the two EE models is that the Enigma has a sewn footbox while the Revelation has a series of zippers, snaps, and drawstring to close the footbox. The Enigma saves an ounce or two by not having all that extra hardware, but the footbox is permanently sewn. The Revelation gives you options to open and close the footbox area to your comfort (including opening the quilt all the way flat), at a slight weight penalty.

The down fill choices and baffle design are the same.

Check out Hammock Gear top quilts. Not just for hangers, their Burrow series are light, well made, and priced right.

Would I be better off with a synthetic 40 degree quilt?

I read somewhere that the amount of down for a 40 degree bag would shift a lot more because there is less of it.

Am I remembering correctly?

Just give Tim from EE a call.

I would be willing to bet that for a very small charge, he would make the foot-box any width you wanted.
It may be a few ounces more with the extra fabric and down, but that’s what you want.

It may take a week or two longer to get it, but Tim is a man that has made a lot of people happy over the years. Since your business makes him happy, I'm willing to bet he would help you be the same.
