This is why proprietary connectors are A Bad Thing.
At only four wires, though, it shouldn't be a big deal to cut out a section and resolder.
The fenix charging cradle is a "good" thing (compared to other Garmin charging systems) because it securely clamps on the watch and will charge even when the watch is getting jostled around.
However, that clamp is so specific that nobody is going to make a substitute version except Garmin. Cutting it and soldering a new USB plug is going to be the only answer for a shorter cable.
