Hi all,

Looking at taking a long weekend soon and trying out a section of the FHT. Never spent much time on it except the AT intersection and a few day hikes out of Table Rock. Was thinking of starting at the other end in Oconee just to see some new ground. Hiking with a first timer and shooting to do 3 full 10-14 mile days depending on the elevation (which doesn't look terrible). Having a tough time finding much information on campsites, water, etc., online, so hoping someone can recommend a section? A loop would be great but I'm happy trying to track down a shuttle to get us back to wherever we start.

Thanks for any suggestions!

To me the most scenic section is the 32 miles from the parking lot off Hwy.178 to the parking lot at Duke Power just below lower Whitewater falls! Great campsites, waterfalls, creeks, rivers, lake, swinging bridges, water sources, some long distance views!!Hayword Douglas is a shuttler I highly recommend, you can get his number from the foothills trail website..The terrain is moderate, and more scenic than the Ocoee end of the trail…
