hey all

So I moved to the White Mountains of AZ about a year ago, and have pretty much done all the "well know" outdoor actives in the area (other than a few that will take more time like rafting the Colorado). I am wondering if any of you can recommend any good books for outdoor activates in Arizona (or for that matter, New Mexico, Utah, Four Corners Area). Anything having to do with backpacking, good camping and hiking spots, swimming holes…really just about anything. A plus if it has ideas for places that are dog friendly. Trying to find some fun day trips, and 1 or 2 night trips.

Thanks!!!

50 Loops in Arizona (or something like that) from Falcon guides iirc. Got it from the Tucson REI. My copy is somewhere…

I search the REI website and googled in, but couldn't find anything with that name…

Sorry Dan, got them mixed up … the one I was talking about was "Best Loop Hikes Arizona" by "the Mountaineers" , not Falcon.

Best loop hikes az

Tends to have all the more mountainous hikes with a bit of description. Same with New Mexico, many hikes tend to be in the mountains (I haven't used a guidebook in so long).

Some desert hikes exists west of Tuscon or South of Deming NM (the CDT comes to mind, as does the Peloncillos coming in from the NM side towards the AZ/old MX border – the later was a fairly rough hike with some border craziness)

Have you checked out hikearizona.com? It's a pretty good resource.
