Any suggestions for getting the old DWR back? Lately I've just been dumping my hiking pants in with the rest of my regular laundry using regular detergent. I suppose maybe this is interfering with the DWR?

For rain gear and other water resistant items, my approach has been Atsko Sport Wash and Nikwax TX Direct Wash In. Should I try this with my hiking pants as well? I have a similar question regarding my Tilley LT5B hat.

The Nikwax Direct-In DWR treatment will work fine on hiking pants, or any pants.

I’ve always used a couple of McNett products with great success:

ReviveX for restoring DWR. I prefer spray-on as I can control it’s application and if needed double up the application on shoulders, cuffs etc. This product also seems to last a long time when I use…

ReviveX Cleaner to wash the gear. They claim it is specifically designed not to damage the DWR, and the factory DWR seems to last a long time when washed this way.

Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with McNett. It’s just what I use and am happy with it. Others have had similar experiences with other brands.
