I know there are MontBell fans, MLD fans, Gossamer Gear fans, MEC fans, even REI fans…myself, I get most of my specialized UL gear at Home Depot:

+ Aluminum Flashing – Windscreen.
+ Window Shrink Film aka Polycryo – Groundsheet, Tarp, Poncho, Kilt.
+ Floor Underlayment Thin Pads.
+ Nite Ize Gear Ties for Nylon Oven Bags.
+ Aluminum Angle – Trowel.
+ Reflectix – Cozy.
+ Tyvek – Groundsheet, Pack material, Tarp, Raingear.
+ Mason’s Line – guy-outs.
+ Various headlamps.
+ Earplugs.
+ Silicone and mineral spirits for seam sealing.
+ Duct tape, reinforced tape.
+ Aluminum gutter nails – stakes.
+ Recently a carbon felt pot-holder from the soldering section.
+ SLX Denatured Alcohol.

I've probably forgotten some. In my neck of the woods, HD and Sport Chalet are next to each other…I think HD gets more of my gear money than SC does.

Don't forget to stock up on ethanol if your stove can burn it cleanly.

Oh, right, I knew I was forgetting something. Den Alc, of course. Will add it to the list.

Jerry, in truth, for the last 6 months, I have had a hard time finding the aluminum nails. I don't know what happened to them. I USED to get my nails there…maybe all the UL shoppers bought up the stock at my local HD.

A couple of years ago I needed about 120 tent stakes for my Scout Troop. Gutter nails seemed the way to go but they were pretty pricey for the small package at the big box stores (and I didnt need the ferrules). Found a bulk box at Amazon for about a quarter the price with shipping.

Found out after the fact that my local building supply place would have ordered them for me and matched the price.

Then I stuck them all out in the back yard and painted the top inch or so safety orange.

I love home depot – if I am bored waiting for something scheduled I can enjoyably kill time there just walking around. And yet the is a squalid little Kmart near where I live, and on the few occasions I went there I immediately feel physically and spiritually ill! Can anyone explain this to me. Even the "greeters" make me nauseous.

I bought a few things from HD, but i will have to go back and look at some of these items. Great ideas.

K-Mart gives me the same feeling. I think its the color of the walls/ceiling, and the lack of decorations/merchandise/anything. Went to one in Corpus Christi once and had to leave that place quickly.
