Can a 6'3" guy with big feet make this tent work? Huge REI deal of the day going on the old, non-NX version, but I recall getting into an Hubba Hubba NX at REI and finding out that the 84" was really stake to stake, more than 84" of useable floor length. Thanks.

There are several HH versions, the one I see EEI has on sale is the green fly type.
Looks to me that the NX has a bit more usable floor space than this one :
MSR HH green

NX
MSR HH NX

MSR gives that 84" length for both shelters, just looks like the NX has more vertical walls at the end than the other version

I don't want to throw stones, but I have this vague memory that when I got in the NX at REI and felt jammed, we got out a tape measure and found that 84" was really the length of stake out to stake out, and not floor length. I really wanted to like the NX, it seemed pretty solid for the weight.

backpackinglight measured a MSR Hubba Hubba HP at 84x50x42 in the 2-person tent State of the Market Report.

***Dimensions – maximum Length x maximum Width x maximum Height (LxWxH) In the case of odd shaped floor, a double measurement is given for head and foot (H/F). The numbers are as measured by BPL and may differ from the manufacturers stated dimensions.

I have a Hubba, same as what you're looking at but the single man version. I'm the same height, 6'3" and it is just big enough to lie on my back stretched out straight without touching the ends. I tend to side sleep with my knees bent so its not a problem anyway. I'd suggest trying to find one that you can have a lie down in if you're unsure, as its probably right on the borderline if you need the full length.

Paul,
the point in question is not really the floor length but the usable space.
The two are not one and the same if the walls are not at 90 degree (perpendicular) to the ground.
BTW, I am not suggesting that the tent is or isn't big enough, just pointing out a common mistake that people make when looking at tent dimensions.

I have spent about 150 nights in a Hubba Hubba. I'm 6' 2" and spouse is 5' 2". I can sit up comfortably in the tent never feel like the end of my sleeping bag is going to hit the inner wall of the tent. We usually put some stuff like our food stuff sacks under my wife's feet. The vestibules have a generous amount of space wet gear, pack, shoes and trekking poles. The Hubba Hubba is a little on the heavy side but otherwise it's a great tent!

Wow, the Hubba hubba is just great!
Not only the two vestibules can offer space for two small backpacks, also the inner dimensions offer >20cm of space with a Exped 180cm matress(plus a small pack!!!!). So you'll have 2m inner dimensions. I've owned a Hubba Hubba and think its a very spacious nice light tent, though not UL. The NX version is very nice: lighter, better wind resistance and more vents… I want to have one again!

If you are sharing the tent with someone else, either your head or feet will likely touch the inside wall. If you are using it solo and sleep diagonally you will have plenty of room.
