Howdy BPL Members,

Just wanted to make a quick introduction for our company UGQ Outdoor Equipment. We've had several members ask if we were on BPL and figured it was time to join the fun. We are in our third year of full time gear making and offer a variety of high quality quilts and tarps. Our quilts feature 15d DWR Garment class fabrics, .7/oz nano mesh baffles, HyperDRY700GDD, or HyperDRY850GGD. Available in four lengths and two widths we have a size to fit pretty much anyone. We also do full custom work if we don't have an size exactly for you.

Our tarps currently use a 30d 1.1 silnylon but we are currently field testing 15d silnylon tarps. Had one in heavy wind yesterday and thought we would have seen some wind damage but it stood up quite well.

We currently are running a sale and you can check out our website and products at:

I'm just heading out the door for a few days field testing so if you have any questions I'll have to get back to you upon my return.

Thanks, Paul – UGQ

Thank you for this…though I'm looking at your website and I can't find where you list the weights for each quilt….I know you have a lot of options like taper, etc that would affect weight, but I need some kind of baseline (you could say …add 1 oz for rectangular taper or something).

I also had to watch the video to see the pad attachment system (6 triangular loops). I still don't know if the quilts come with any shockcord or grosgrain or ? for actually attaching the quilt to a pad.

Nice site though…I do like the options that you can add to each quilt.

Oh, and I also don't see a sizing guide….for recommended heights and suggestions for width selection.

Well…NOW I see them and it seems so obvious ->

Click HERE to see fabric color options.

Click HERE for full listing of Sizing, Specifications and Finished Weights.

But ….on the other hand, I still missed it the first time around. A user's eye actually tends to skip over text …glance…if there is a lot of it.

I would change the links to read like this instead ->

Sizing, Specifications and Finished Weights.

(no "click here" type of language), and instead make the text larger or ….convert to a graphic link.

The site gives a single weight for a given size, temp, and fp, but as you said it does not indicate weight difference for tapered vs. non or for sewn vs snaps footbox etc. I agree would be good to clarify these details for counting grams and ounces.

I recently contacted Paul for a new top quilt and I must say his/UGQ's customer service is impeccable. He happily answered every question I had and expanded on and explained every detail. Needless to say I placed my order immediately. I'll do a full review when it arrives but for now I sit patiently watching my quilt climb the list of production. I think its a great idea that you get to watch the progress of your quilt in production too… As opposed to waiting in limbo wondering…Thanks again Paul, I can't wait.
