Hi all,

I'm really trying to get my money's worth here. I know the Exodus could last for at least a thru hike, maybe two. My question is, could the GG Gorilla be considered as durable? I really like the Gorillas versatility and I have a g4 and I really like it.

Max weight won't be higher than 28lbs most of the time, so they both should carry that well. I like the idea of being able to carry a little more with the GG for those SW dry hikes. And I like the fact that I can leave the stay and pad at home and have a ~19oz pack.

Really I am on the fence when it comes to durability. If anyone could specifically chime in on that topic, it would be much appreciated.

As always, TIA

in a Gorilla for 28 pounds of gear and food? I think not. If you go with the GG, move up to the Mariposa; there is no weight penalty for the additional volume. The capacity of the Exodus and Mariposa are substantially the same but the Gorilla will be a challenge in efficient packing every morning until you consume a few days food.

The 140D plain weave main fabric of the Gorilla will be a bit less abrasion resistant than the 210D ripstop on the Exodus. This will only come into play if you find yourself scrapping the pack on rocks. The side pockets will be the first to suffer. The Gorilla fabric is a great fabric for trail hiking, and with reasonable care I don't see why it wouldn't survive a long hike ready for the next one.

I find the Gorilla plenty big for plain old backpacking. A weeks food and a summer kit with room to spare easy.
