I noticed that Hyperlight Mountain Gear came out with an improved version of the pack this year. Can anyone who has the new pack comment on the improved hipbelt? I purchased my 3400 Southwest last summer. I'm wondering if it would be possible to ship it back to HMG to have the hipbelt replaced with the new model and/or whether it would be worth my while. The 2013 hipbelt isn't bad, but the pockets are near impossible to access one handed with the pack on, and the hipbelt doesn't wrap around my hips quite as far as I'd like. It's not terrible, but an extra inch or two on each side would be nice. For reference, I have a size 30 waist and have the SMALL size pack.

The padded portion of the hipbelt is longer and slightly wider. Longer by almost 2" each side by my measurements.

Dave, have you thought of just cutting the pockets off and adding new hip belt pockets from MLD or Zimmer. I just bought a new pack from HMG and first thing I did was remove pockets, because as you stated hard to access the pockets when wearing backpack. I know, won't do much for adding the 2" but will make a great pack even better in my opinion.
