Klymit Static V – Insulated or no?

I've come to the place where I'm willing to carry a little more weight to sleep better. I'm a side sleeper and I'd like to not spend a fortune because I don't get out (for overnights) very often. The Klymit Static V looks like it fits the bill, but I'm worried about getting cold. I'm torn about whether to get the uninsulated or the insulated. I already have a shortened z lite that weighs about 6 ounces. I currently use it as a back pad / sleep pad in my GG mariposa. I could either use a much lighter pad for the back pad and get the insulated sleeping pad, or keep what I've got and combine the z lite with the uninsulated Static V.

Very wordy way of asking: Can I just add the R values of the z lite and the uninsulated static v together? Any advice on which way to go?

Thanks!

FYI, If you search for the static V on ebay, you can find a factory refurbished for $42 or "make offer" they will accept $34 including shipping. At that price it is worth a try. I slept on it in temps as low as 37 without any problems, or additional insulation needed.

I find the Static V is good down to about 40F (and I'm a cold sleeper) — below that temperature, you would do well to slip your foam pad between you and the Static V.

It's a bit heavy for its comfort level (compared to the Synmat UL), but it's got decent durability, and I like the 23" width!

Has anyone used the uninsulated Static V in conjunction with a ridgerest/z-rest foam pad equivalent? If so, what temperature were you comfortable down to?

Those refurbished Static V's for $34 on ebay sound like an absolutely phenomenal deal.

Just a note on my experience with a refurbished Klymit pad deal on eBay after reading this thread. I just picked up an Inertia X-Lite torso pad. Listed for $59.95, I made an offer of $43. They countered with $47.95 and I took it. Just got it today, 3 days (including the weekend) from the day I finalized the purchase. It came in a box like a new pad and for all intents and purposes, it looks new. Pad weight on my scale was 6.2 oz. (claimed 6.1 oz.) so at least Klymit is not "inflating" their weight claims.

Just wanted to try the pad and FWIW I really like it after unboxing and trying it out on the living room floor. So far, it seems I like slightly softer feel when I don't use the pump, which is a good thing (saves me from carrying the pump). The "body mapping" seems to work for me, as I don't seem to notice the gaps at all when supine or on my side. With this one though, I'll have to use it with a CCF for insulation. I may try to pick one of the Static V's to try it out as well. Its hard to go wrong at that price. Being that I just bought a 66" Neo-Air X-lite, its unlikely that I will be using this as my main pad (unless I am impressed enough to return the still unused Neo-Air, but not yet), but I can see some uses for it, such as when using a CCF for a pack "frame".

Please report back on the Static V when you get it.

I got the Static V very quickly and it's nice. I could not distinguish it from a brand new one. I find it comfortable on my hardwood floor and it inflates pretty easily. I hope to get it out in the field soon.

Michael,
Just curious… what is the actual inflated width of your refurbished Static V (not counting the seam allowance on either side)?
