Hi all,

Looking at my gear setup for glacier NP mid august-sep 1st (Belly river country, two medicine, possibly north fork), hoping I could get some advice:

Sleeping bag:
Currently I'm packing a long Sierra Designs Zissou 23 w/dridown (35 oz) Looking at a possible replacement for this that would be significantly lighter (at least 1/2 a lb) and comparable in warmth or slightly warmer. Based on old threads I see that going with a synthetic bag due to the moistness of the climate has been recommended – would dridown cut it? My budget would allow for ~$350 or ideally $275 or less. It will be used for several backpack trips ranging from 3 to 4 nights with breaks in between. I will be pairing it w/ a Exped Synmat UL 7.

Tent:
Considering tarptent rainshadow 2 (will be w/ two friends). Will it be too breezy?

Layers: Merino top + bottom. I have seen down puffies rec so I was planning to bring that as well.

Raingear: Driducks pants/jacket.

Backpack: Osprey exos 48.

Pack Cover + Pack Liner: Recommendations on this? I want lightweight + solid protection of contents from moisture – not planning on bushwhacking.

I think you will be fine with what you have listed. There usually isn't a lot of rain in late August. I would forget a pack cover, and just be sure that all of your down things are securely stored in a waterproof manner (eVent stuff sacks, pack liner, or whatever). A 30* F bag should work well, and a down puffy will be good for late night/early morning wear. Keep in mind that the Belly River temperatures will be warmer than the northern boundary trail. The Belly and the whole west side of the park are at lower elevations than the east side and the north.
