I would like to get the burrow since it's 100 dollars cheaper.. But is it a good quilt? It's also lighter. I plan on getting this bag for summer. So a 40 Degree is what I was thinking of getting. All the reviews on there Web site give it five stars, but i want to ask the BPL community first.

Just make sure to compare apples to apples when comparing the two. Both use similar down and fabric, so if the HG is lighter make sure you understand why. Taper, width, length, foot box design, straps included, etc. I think the quality is similar. Tim's baffle design is superior IMO.

I have the HG 20* and it is wonderful. I also looked closely at EE as I have some of Tim's quilts.
The HG has a superior suspension system IMHO.

All this feedback is what I was looking for! Keep it coming! So far it still seems like I'm going to go with the HG Burrow.. Seems like people that own it love it and everyone agrees that it's good material so far from the reviews I've read. And the price of saving 100 dollars is major for me. I'm one of those guys that live paycheck to paycheck sadly but that's life and I make the most of it! This is a major investment for me but there is still so much gear to get.

Both are quality quilts and you can't go wrong with either(you can use the EE as an under quilt if you hammock). Check out Mid Atlantic Mountain Works as well. Few dollars more than HG and a newer vendor on the market, but excellent quality.

I got a green 40F HG Burrow quilt recently. I got the non sewn version as this is a summer quilt that will likely get used in hotter weather more often then colder weather so I wanted it to open up. I've taken it out twice and slept in high 40's and was well pleased. The construction looks good. I'm 5'10" and found the regular length to be more than long enough. My only complaint was that it was about an ounce heavier then the website stated which makes me wonder if the stated weight is for the sewn version.Still would have bought it anyway. Seems a good value for the money. I carry it in a Zpacks Medium+ cuben fiber stuff sack though it would have fit in a medium size one without any issues (or even smaller for that issue, but I don't like compressing down that much for longevity reasons).

So what's the difference? I Noticed that Duck is much cheaper than Goose. EE has a Duck down version that is still very close in weight to goose but muuuuuch cheaper. And also does it pack down as small?

Marcelo,

Appropriately enough, Link already included a link to a preliminary review I wrote in regards to sizing and build quality of the HG Burrow 20*.

I want to stress mine is still a very initial review. I have logged a couple of additional nights sleeping with my quilt under my TarpTent, but the coldest night was ~35 degrees, so that's hardly pushing the lower end of the HG's stated temp rating.

I've owned quilts from both HG and EE and have only positive things to say about both companies. Tim (owner of EE) was amazingly responsive when I bought my first quilt from him. Adam and Jenny (Owners of HG) were also great and eager to help. In fact, they just sent me extra shockcord for cinching the underside of my quilt, and did so free of charge. No shipping, no other cost. I thought that was a cool gesture on their part.

Good luck with your search. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions regarding the HG Burrow.

Recently received my HG Burro 20. Argon brown, awesome color. I sold an EE Enigma 30 with downtek to buy the Burro. Realized the 30 wasn't warm enough for my needs. Also needed the cash. Haven't used either in the field. Couple notes:

EE with 10d fabric feels ever so slightly better on skin. The Argon however feels very silky and also a bit less delicate. Argon brown looks kind of like copper.. very cool.

Something about the EE just seemed slightly better designed/built..can't quite put a finger on it. Might just be in my head that the cost difference had to show somewhere. If you have the money and are ok with the sizing, you won't regret getting an EE.

With that said, the Burro is a much better bang for the buck. I got it custom made at 58" wide because I'm a ground side sleeper. Regular length is plenty long (I'm 5-11), got a snap foot box for venting on warmer nights. The quilt is beautiful, has no flaws, and is super warm. You won't find a better quilt under $300.

i'd take reviews on that website with a grain of salt. they get very protective of their cottage guys, to the point of not allowing anyone to post anything negative about them, regardless of the cause. posts get removed and people get banned. they are a very knowledgeable group, but that is something to consider when reading.

Oh, you want something bad to say about awesome cottage gear manufactures such as HG and EE? Shame on you.

I don't own a HG quilt but have a jacket made from Argon.
To say that Tim's fabric feel better must be nice. Both fabrics will do fine with down leakage.
I agree on the EE baffling, but also the less $$$ for the warmer bag (as long as it is wide enough for you). The EE sizing and fill gives you so many options to better fit your needs as well.

The one and only thing I would like to see changed from the EE standpoint is the padding clasp system.

Both sides of the quilt are female ends and the clasp system are both male ends.
Seems to me that it would make a lot more sense to have one side male and the other female. This way you can get a wider version and snap the closure together giving you more of a bag comfort.

An added benefit for zero extra work involved.

Keep in mind that the HG quilts are narrower than the EE medium. The HG quilts are also straight taper, not half taper, like the EE quilts. For these reasons, you can't just simply compare the weights.

"i'd take reviews on that website with a grain of salt. they get very protective of their cottage guys…"

Ditto BPL, eh?
