Cool trip Kevin. What trailhead did you start out of?
It's off Wuksachi Way off Generals Highway. I'm not sure how often Generals Highway is kept open but this trialhead is low enough that you can park below the snow line and head on up. It's like 9 miles before you get to some real altitude though which is mildly annoying.
