I'm looking to get a tent that will satisfy all of my wants and desires. if money were no object, I'd just get the ZPacks Triplex and be done with it. Featherweight and can be carried by me on a solo trip or used with a girlfriend on a two-person excursion.

I torture myself whether I should just get a Stratospire 2 and be done with it. It's much heavier than what I'd ever want on a solo trip but it will accommodate two people on another outing.

Them I convince myself to get a used solo tent and the Stratospire2. Let's see…$150 plus $340…but now we're closing in on a ZPacks.

What do I do, where do I go? I am paralyzed with indecision.

And here I thought you were conflicted about whether to let it 'lay' on the left or the right…..

Can you comfortably afford a Zpacks Triplex? I subscribe to buying gear that you will love and use often, as long as it will last and you can afford it.

How often will you be camping solo vs. with your girlfriend?

I tend to think that people are ultimately happier with more space in their shelter vs. almost too little, but I have no solid data to prove this.

If you are going to spend a significant amount of time camping with your girlfriend then you might just want to get the Triplex. You can always add on a very simple single person shelter in the future, like a SMD Gatewood Cape (which can do double duty as a poncho anyway).
