I posted a while back and got some AWESOME feedback from members here about tents for tall people.

Based on that thread and feedback I have looked heavily at these three tents:

1) Zpacks Soloplex
2) Zpacks Duplex
3) Yama Mountain Gear Cirriform SW 1 person

I am tall, 6'3" so length and tent wall slope matters.

I am trying hard to lighten up my load for a trip from Sonora Pass to Mt Whitney this August and some side trails on the way.

Can any of you provide tall guy real world use experience feedback on these three?

I have the Zpacks Duplex Tent. I am 6'1" and I have more than 6 inches of room on each end, so the Duplex will fit you just fine. It is very lightweight ( 19 Oz ) and sets up easily and quickly. I took it out last weekend in the rain to test it and it did great. No condensation, had 3 doors closed, no water got in at all. It does require 2 treking poles adjusted to 48". This tent replaced my Hennessey Hammock outfit and I feel like I am in a Palace now. It has alot of room and I had all of my stuff inside and out of the way. Good headroom also and easy to move around in for both setup and takedown. It takes under 5 minutes from start to get it setup.

I hope this helps

My new Solplex is at the Post Office as of yesterday, I should be able to pick it up Saturday when the window opens for a whole hour. I won't get to try it out for a few weeks, I'm headed out later on Saturday, so don't want to take it yet, just in case.

I too own the Duplex and could not be happier. It is Hubba Hubba room for less than 24oz total package. I opted for the .74 canopy. If I had to replace it I would buy another. Search these forums for Duplex and I think you will find a fairly universal appreciation for this tent and…perhaps more importantly…universal praise for ZPacks quality and attention to service after the sale.

Can't go wrong with the Duplex.

Thanks for the feedback from actual users of the Duplex. You affirmed my suspicions…and I received a PM from someone that is 6'5" and he has learned the soloplex does not have as much internal length as the Duplex…super helpful info there.

Does anyone have any feedback on the Cirriform???

"Does anyone have any feedback on the Cirriform???"

According to the Yama website a few days ago, Gen is ceasing production for a bit starting April 1 as he restructures his business. I didn't see a date when he thought he'd start back up.

Last season, 300+ miles, I used the Cirriform DW, tarp + net tent. The SW will have more room width-wise.

At 6'4", I really liked the tarp/tent combo, but I also had Gen add 4" to both. It was lightweight, svelte, tight pitch, and I loved the extended beak. However, in the end, I was seduced by the Duplex. Primarily, for the dual views, ability to have all 4 doors open or 3 closed and one open. I preferred that to a front door entrance with one pole in the middle, which the Cirriform SW would still have. We hike miles & miles for that special view on the ridge, by the lake, in the open valley, and the Duplex offers us a better option to see that view, while at the same time, offer storm protection.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Gen's Cirriform SW (or DW)–without a doubt great craftsmanship and design.

It's a personal choice.

And as far as an all in one enclosed shelter, it is my opinion that the Duplex is currently the best

Hope that helps.

In case you're interested…

There's a thorough review of a cuben Terraform SW from Yama. It's similar to the Cirriform SW. The site reviews several shelters in its Cuben Roundup. Good site.
